AYEKI Association
The history of the Mountain Jews spans between 2,100 to 2,400 years, making them one of the oldest ethnic groups within the Jewish people. After the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem, Jews settled in the Caucasus, far from their ancestral homeland. Despite the harsh conditions, forced migrations, and persecution they faced over the centuries, the Mountain Jews preserved their religion, traditions, and national culture, adapting to their new environment with resilience.
However, in the past century, the spiritual life of Mountain Jews has been deeply impacted by the communist regime and the corrupting influence of Western ideologies. The erosion of spiritual values, cultural assimilation, and detachment from national traditions now threaten the unique heritage of the Mountain Jews, as well as the broader Jewish community.
We cannot stand by and allow this cultural catastrophe to unfold. It is our duty to preserve our identity within the Jewish people and to ensure the survival of our spiritual and cultural legacy.
Our mission is to revive, safeguard, and promote the religious and cultural heritage of Mountain Jews. We, the Jews of the Caucasus, bear the responsibility for the future of our people. Regardless of where we were born or where we live now, we must, for the sake of our ancestors, unite to address the challenges before us. We firmly believe that together, this is possible.
Unity is essential. Jewish history and countless real-life experiences have demonstrated how solidarity strengthens a people, enabling them to live harmonious, fulfilling lives and to elevate both their spiritual and material well-being.
Yet, many among us still fail to recognize the vital importance of unity. By focusing solely on individual pursuits, they risk losing not only themselves but also the future of their children and the entire nation.
This must end! We call on all Mountain Jewish communities across the world to stand with AYEKI and contribute to the common cause. Together, we are strength!
